Panchaganga in spate for the 5th time in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Sep 22 (UNI) Panchaganga river is in spate today following last two days of incessant rains in this district.

The river for the fifth time in the current monsoon, is overflowing at the Rajaram weir near city's suburb Kasaba Bavada.

The Highest rainfall of 182 mm was recorded in Gaganbavada Tehsil of this district, followed by Radhanagari 90 mm, Panchala 82 mm and Shahuwadi 78 mm during the last 24 hours ending this morning, district administration informed.

However, rains have abated to some extent since late this afternoon.

Five people died in collision between autorickshaw and truck

Muzaffarpur, Sept 22(UNI) Five people were killed and three injured when a truck collided with an auto rickshaw near Kanti thermal power station under Kanti police station area here tonight. According to police, the five people died on the spot and the injured had been admitted at Local medical college and hospital. A R Pawar becomes MP DGP

Bhopal, Sep 22 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh State EOW DG Anand Rao Pawar will assume charge tomorrow as the state's DGP, official sources said today. The 1972 batch IPS officer, who was decorated with the Indian Police Medal, replaces Mr Swaraj Puri who has been shifted as DG (Home Guard) to replace Mr O P Garg who will be EOW DG. OSLO, Sep 22 (Reuters) Norwegian prosecutors unveiled today evidence against four men detained on suspicion of plotting to blow up the US and Israeli embassies and of participating in a shooting at the Oslo synagogue last weekend. Bush reiterates US policy of non interference on Kashmir
