Nepal establishes diplomatic ties with Vanuatu

Kathmandu, Sep 22 (UNI) Nepal and Vanuatu have established diplomatic relations yesterday, Nepal's Foreign Minister said today.

An agreement to this effect was signed between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal KP Sharma Oli and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Vanuatu at the permanent Mission of Nepal in New York yesterday afternoon.

Following the signing of the agreement, the ministers of both the countries shared their views on the issues of common interest as both being the least developed countries, the ministry said.

They expressed their firm conviction that with the establishment of diplomatic relations, both countries would be able to further promote and strengthen bilateral co-operation in socio-economic and cultural fields in future.

With Vanuatu, the number of countries with which Nepal has established diplomatic relations has reached 123.

Rtd French Military officer murdered

Puducherry, Sep 22 (UNI) A 72-year-old retired French military officer was murdered here last night, police today said. According to police, a five-member gang armed with deadly weapons entered the bungalow of J S Anthuvan at the Labourdene Street in the town. After overcoming stiff resistance from the servants, the gang attacked Anthuvan and slit his throat, killing him on the spot before escaping under the cover of darkness. 93 blasts: 2 arms landing agents declared guilty

Mumbai, Sept 22: The designated TADA court in Mumbai today found two ''landing agents'' guilty of handling the landing operations of the deadly arms and ammunition which were brought to India at the behest of prime accused Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Menon, which were used in the March 1993 blasts that rocked the city.The court found Dawood Phanse (82) guilty of all the charges and in it's order observed that the charges against Phanse of attending a meeting at.....
