Minister should clear confusion on college issue

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 22 (UNI) The Congress party of Kerala today said considering the future of students in the state, Education Minister M A Baby should clarify the confusion prevailing over the Self Finance Professional College issue.

Addressing a news conference, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Ramesh Chennithala alleged that the Education Minister and his Department's immature approaches were responsible for the present crisis in the sector.

The KPCC chief suggested the government should take a clear stand on the issue to end the uncertainty prevailing upon in admission and fees structure in the self financing professional colleges.

Alleging that the Health Department miserably failed to check the outbreak of viral fever, Chikunguniya, he said about 35,000 patients were being treated with the symptoms of the disease in various government hospitals and thousands in private hospitals in the state.

More than 26 people have died with Chikunguniya in Alappuzha district alone, he added.

On shifting the post of Muhammad Riasuddin from Chief Secretary, he said the decision was an insult to the minority communities and was ''quite objectionable''. Such decisions were not taken by any previous governments in the state, he added.

On the vigilance report of appointments in the Devaswom Board, he said it should be made public so that doubts in this regard could be cleared.
