McDonald's to enter Varanasi next month

Varanasi, Sep 22 (UNI) The globally hit burgers, french fries, McPuffs, happy meals and Indian delights including McCurry Pan and wraps dished out by McDonald's, will hit the ancient city of Varanasi next month.

The US restaurant major, which has 30,000 restaurants in 119 countries will open its first outlet at an upcoming shopping mall in Varanasi during the third week of October a press statement by the company said here today.

A leader in Quick Service Restaurant (QSR), McDonald's presently has 94 restaurants in the country, including 57 in North India. Of these 57 outlets, a maximum of 27 are located in Delhi.

In Uttar Pradesh, the company synonimous for world class burgers and french fries, has four outlets in Noida, three in Ghaziabad, two each in Lucknow and Kanpur, one each in Agra, Allahabad, Meerut and Mathura.

''We will offer everything on our cuisane spanning from world famous french fries and McPuffs and the complete range of hot and cold beverages to out and out Indian McCurry Pan, Aloo Tikki Burger and Veg surprise. The company will stick to its promise of not offering beef or pork based non-veg delights anywhere in India,'' said Neerja Bharat, corporate communications representative of the global restaurant major.

The first McDonald's India outlet in Varanasi to come up next month at a shopping mall in Sigra area will be followed by its second outlet at another mall coming in the posh Cantonment area.

CME in talks with Indian commodity bourses for tie-ups

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) is in talks with Indian commodities exchanges such as MCX, NCDEX, NMCE to explore possibilities to jointly trade the commodities in each others' market, CME's MD and Chief Corporate Development Officer John P Davidson said today.
