Light to moderate rains to occur in AP

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema in next 24 hours.

According officials of Meteorological Department, rain occurred at a few places over Telangana. Isolated rain occurred over Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm are Chintapalli 3, Anakapalle, Narsipatnam, Asifabad, Eturnagaram, Metpalli and Yellandu 2.

AP Govt prohibits sacrificing of animals on Vijayadashami

Hydrabad, Sept 22 (UNI)The Andhra Pradesh Govt today prohibited sacrificing of animals on the occasion of Vijayadashami, falling on October two by invoking the AP Animals and Birds Sacrifices(Prohibition) Act. The Additional Director General of Police(Legal) M Bhaskar directed all the Superintendents of Police and Commissioners to enforce the Act and take necessary action against violators, according to a statement issued here. Drop autonomy move for JIPMER: CPI(M)

Puducherry, Sep 22 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) today urged the Centre to drop the proposed move to grant autonomous status to the Centrally- administered JIPMER hospital here. Govt implementing Jayati Ghosh recommendations: Minister

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy today said the Government was implementing the recommendations of Jayati Ghosh Commission which had studied the circumstances that led to farmers committing suicides in the State. Addressing a review meeting with officials of different departments, he said of the 170 recommendations, 129 were implemented. ULFA attack police party, one killed

Guwahati, Sep 22 (UNI) The ULFA today attacked a police party and killed a havildar virtually drawing the curtain of the month and half-long ceasefire with the security forces. Official sources here said the ULFA militants shot dead the havildar, Ranjit Sonowal, when the police party had gone in search of a person in a case related to extortion bid on a tea estate executive at Napam under Borborua police station of Dibrugarh district......
