Life imprisonment awarded in Baby Cyriac murder case

Kottayam, Sep 22 (UNI) Additional Sessions Judge P D Rajan today convicted and sentenced Manoj Mathew(30) and his brother Joby Mathew(28) of Cheriyammakkal house to life imprisonment in the Ramapuram Cheriyammakkal Baby Cyriac murder case.

According to the prosecution on November 22, 2003, Manoj Mathew and Joby Mathew had stabbed to death their cousin Baby Cyriac (38) with a tapping knife, following a property dispute.

Additional Public Prosecutor Kuncheria Kuzhiveli appeared for the prosecution.

Court rejects Fardeen's plea for immunity

Mumbai, Sept 22 (UNI) A city court today rejected the plea of Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan seeking ''immunity'' from the prosecution in a cocaine seizure case registered against him during May 2001. Khan moved his plea before the special NDPS judge P N Deshmukh and pleaded that cocaine quantity involved only one gram which is small quantity hence pleaded for immunity from the case. Sex racket accused shifted to Chandigarh from Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 22 (UNI) The authorities have shifted all the 13 accused in the much-publicised sex racket case from the Central Jail here to a prison in Chandigarh for a hearing on their bail pleas by a local court there on September 25. Central Jail Superintendent Dr Mohammad Sultan Lone said all the accused have been shifted to a jail in Chandigarh yesterday. TAA advices passengers to plan trips to Thailand after two days

Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) Travel Agents Association (TAA) of India President C V Prasad today adviced passengers planning trips to Thailand in the next two weeks to wait for two or three days before taking any decision, although the ground situation is completely normal after the military coup.
