Jeev improves to tied 24th at Acom International

Ibaraki, Japan, Sep 22 (UNI) Jeev Milkha Singh put behind the disappointment of a poor opening round and carded a flawless three-under 68 to jump to the tied 24th spot after the second round of the 43575000 dollar Acom International here today.

The seasoned Indian pro, who started at the tied 59th position after a one-over 72 in the first round, sank in three birdies in his blemish-free performance to improve his standing on the leaderboard.

Jeev managed a solitary birdie in the front nine to make the turn at one-under. In his return journey, the Volvo China Open winner gained consecutive shots on the 15th and 16th to end the day with a two-day total of three-under 140 at the scenic Ishioka Golf Club here.

Meanwhile, at the top, Mamo Osanai sank in eight birdies in his bogey-free eight-under 63 to lead the pack with a two-round total of 14-under 128.

Yoichi Shimizu (63) followed Osanai five shots behind at nine-under 133.
