Israeli soldiers wounded in West Bank attack

NABLUS, West Bank, Sep 22 (Reuters) One Israeli soldier was moderately wounded and six others lightly hurt in the West Bank today by explosive devices thrown by Palestinian militants, the Israeli military said.

It said the attack took place in the West Bank city of Nablus.

Palestinian militants from al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, which is part of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah group, carried out the attack during an Israeli operation in the city.

Israeli troops often raid West Bank towns and cities looking for militants.

3 naxals killed in AP encounter

Khammam, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 22: Three Praja Prathighatana Group (PPG) naxals were killed in an encounter with the police, near Mamidigudem Village of Palvancha Mandal of the district today.The naxals opened fire on special team which was combing the area prompting them to retaliate, police said.Two DBBL, two 8mm rifles and 20 kitbags were recovered from the spot. The identity of the naxals who were killed on the spot was yet to be established.UNI.....

2 killed, 9 hurt as bus turns turtle

Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 22: Two persons were killed and nine injured when a private bus turned turtle near Mulachervu Ghat at Chintakommadinne Mandal of the district in the wee hours of today.Police said the driver of the bus proceeding from Chittor to Hyderabad lost control of the vehicle leading to the mishap.The deceased were identified as Somla Naik and Govinda Naik of Chittor District.The injured persons were admitted to the Government Hospital here......

Reforms to ensure independence of police: SC

New Delhi, Sep 22: The Supreme Court today suggested formation of State Security Commissions along with a national security commission to ensure independence of police force across the country.The Court also suggested that the state Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) should have a two-year minimum fixed tenure. There should also be separate wings for investigation and enforcement of law and order in the country, the Court added.The Court said.....
