High Court seeks report on trial of Shahabuddin

Patna, Sep 22 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed the lower court to submit report within two weeks on status of trial faced by RJD MP Shahabuddin in connection with recovery of illegal firearms from his ancestral residence in Siwan last year.

A single bench of Justice Mridula Mishra issued the directive during hearing of a regular bail petition filed by the MP in the related case.

Illegal firearms, including foreign made rifle, were recovered during a raid conducted at the Pratappur based residence of RJD leader by then police superintendent of Siwan.

A case in this connection was registred with Hussainganj police station.

New Delhi, Sept 22 (UNI) A local court today acquitted two persons arrested from Mongolpuri in 2003 on charges of possessing 1.5 kg of heroin. Additional Sessions judge N K Sharma acquitted Hukum Chand and Jai Prakash, caught on January 19, 2003 allegedly with 1.5 kg of heroin and a mobile, after examining the witness from both sides. SE fined for pilfering power in Karnal

Karnal, Sep 22 (UNI) A Superintendent Engineer (SE) of Uttari Haryana Bijli Nigam has been fined for pilfering power at his residence here. A vigilance team of the Bijli Nigam, during a videographed raid at his house here yesterday, found seals of the meter tempered for pilferage. Pondicherry, Sep 22 (UNI) The investigation into the making of fake R C Books and selling of stolen vehicles is progressing, police said. The culprits involved in the racket would be booked soon. Several persons, including brokers and employees of the transport department were being questioned, they said.
