Heavy security in 3 AP dists following Maoist bandh call

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Security has been tightened in naxal-infested Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar Districts following a CPI(Maoist) bandh call today to protest against the recent encounter in Tadwai Forests of Warangal district in which Maoist East Zone Secretary Madhu and three others were killed.

Heavy police forces had been posted in all vulnerable areas and APSRTC had withdrawn 75 bus services to the interior forest areas.

Police said no untoward incident was reported till noon. However, there was tension in forest areas like Parakala and Eturunagaram in Warangal.

N Korean fugitives out of jail in Thailand

BANGKOK, Sep 22 (Reuters) A group of 159 North Korean refugees jailed in Thailand for illegal entry have been released after serving a 30-day sentence and will be allowed to leave the country soon, the United Nations today said.
