HC decision on Coke, Pepsi unfortuate: JD (S)

Kozhikode, Sep 22 (UNI) Describing Kerala High Court quashing the state government's decision banning cola products as ''unfortunate'', the Janata Dal (Secular) today said the order was against the interests of the people and favourable to '' the health of the soft drink manufacturers'' in the state.

Party state unit president M P Veerendra Kumar, MP, in a release here said the government should have gone in for a detailed study of the issue before imposing the ban.

He called upon the government to take further steps to ban the products in the state again after making necessary amendments in the existing law.

HC issues notice to Imam of Jama Masjid

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued a notice to Imam of Jama Masjid Sayed Imam Bukhari for not voluntarily removing the illegal structures inside the historic Moghul monument, including his residential building, despite repeated directives of the court. SC accepts Lyngdoh Committee report on student election reforms

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) The Supreme Court today accepted the report of the committee, headed by former Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh, suggesting measures to cleanse the university and college union elections in the country from politicisation and criminalisation.
