Gurupurab of Ram Das to be observed in Lahore

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) An Indian group will celebrate gurpurab of the 4th Sikh Guru Ram Das in Lahore, his birth place, for the first time in nearly 60 years this year, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee said today.

Addressing a congregation at Gurudwara Nanak Piao Sahib here on his return from Pakistan after a four-day visit, former DSGMC President Paramjit Singh Sarna said the DSGMC would send a jatha of 200 pilgrims to Lahore on October 6 for the gurpurab on October nine.

According to a DSGMC statement, he said the Gurudwara at the birthplace of Guru Ram Das had been renovated and work on the four-lane road from Lahore to Nanakana Sahib completed.

The DSGMC would open offices in Amritsar and Ludhiana to help those intending to make the pilgrimage, he informed.

40 per cent decline in existence of species: WWF

Thousands take holy dip to pay obesaince to departed souls

Haryana earmarks Rs 33.37 crore for drinking water, sewerage

Chandigarh, Sep 22 (UNI) Haryana Government has earmarked Rs 33.37 crore for drinking water and sewerage facilities in the state out of which under National Capital Region Programme (NCR), Rs 1.04 crore and Rs 2.45 crore had been allocated for water supply schemes and sewerage facilities respectively for the year 2006-07.
