Foreign currency racket: Police officer among seven arrested

Sambalpur, Sep 22 (UNI) The Jharsuguda police has arrested seven persons including one reserve Police Sub-Inspector Sachidananda Nayak on charges of possessing one million American dollars.

Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Santosh Bala said the Department of Treasuries of US was being informed about these people.

She said the Police were on the job since last two months to nab the persons involved in the foreign currency racket.

Besides the Police Sub Inspector and a driver, the Police also arrested Prasanna Pradhan, Mitrabhanu Patel and four others in this connection.

Police suspected some more influential people are involved in the racket.

Two labourers crushed to death by truck

Sangrur, Sep 22 (UNI) Two labourers were crushed to death by a cement ladened truck in Badruao village, near here, police here said. The victims were identified as Ramdin and Mandeep.
