Five drowned in Chhattisgarh

Durg (CG), Sep 22 (UNI) Five people, including two babies, were killed when their vehicle fell into Shivnath River at Phulgaon near here at midnight, police said today.

The vehicle was heading towards Dondilohara when it plunged into the swollen river while passing through a bridge.

Sanjay Lodha (34), his wife Sarika (32), his six-month-old son, his sister Varsha (28) and her two-month-old daughter were drowned.

The driver Appu and their servant swam to safety and informed police about the incident.

Three bodies were recovered and efforts were on to fish out bodies of Sarika and the six-month-old boy.
