Exchange of fire between AR and NLFT, arms recovered

Agartala, Sep 22 (UNI) A fierce exchange of fire took place between the Assam Rifles (AR) jawans and National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) Biswamohan faction at Gandachera in Dhalai district yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off about movement of militants in the area, AR jawans of the 15th batallion launched a search operation. On reaching a certain spot, the militants numbering about 30 began firing indiscriminately at the search party. The jawans retaliated forcing the militants to flee from the spot.

A huge cache of arms, including one 2 inch mortar besides, two wireless sets and a few binoculars were recovered.

Itanagar, Sep 22 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet has given a nod for constituting a water resource regulatory authority to regulate all the water resources of the state and its proper utility for socio-economic development of this under-developed state. Centre approves 830 crore for flood control in NE

Itanagar, Sept 22 (UNI) The Centre has earmarked Rs 830 crores for flood control and anti-erosion programme in the North Eastern states, including Sikkim besides, North Bengal.
