Shillong, Sep 22 (UNI) The BJP Meghalaya unit has asked Chief Minister J.D.Rymbai to ensure that 'genuine' Indian citizens are not harassed during the government's anti-infiltration against illegal Bangladesh migrants in the state.

In a letter to Mr Rymbai, state BJP president Alexander Hek said in the process, many 'genuine' non-tribals were being harassed.

He said manu genuine citizens here were also asked to furnish work permits, which is pure violation of the fundamental rights.

Mr Hek said his party supports the drive to identify and deports illegal migrants from the state.

Earlier, the state government had appealed to the NGOs in the state not to take law into their hands while undertaking the drive against illegal Bangladesh migrants.

Recently, the Cabinet has decided that the government will work on various strategies to prevent further illegal infiltration.
