Cpi calls for amicable solution

Puducherry, Sep 22 (UNI) CPI national council member R Viswanathan today urged two members of parliament from the union territory to find an amicable solution as per law to the Jipmer issue and not to politicise it.

He said after Jipmer is made a national institution by changing its status, it should be ensured that general public of puducherry employees of the institution and representatives of the unions should not be affected and there should be no change in their pension scheme.

He also urged them to take ensure that group ''C '' and ''D'' employees of centrally administerd Jipmer be recruited thorugh local employment exchanges and group ''A'' and ''B'' posts be filled by people from other states only it the eligible condidates are not available in Puducherry. Fifty per cent of the MBBS seats should be filled up by local students, he added.

He also urged them to ensure that the high power administrative committee being constituted should be under the Puducherry Health Minister. Chief Secretary, Health Secretary, the two Parliament members and three more representatives from Poducherry, should be the members of the committee he added.

9 policemen suspended in custodial suicide case

Lucknow, Sep 22 (UNI)The Uttar Pradesh government today suspended nine policemen, including a station officer (SO), posted in Shahjahanpur for their alleged laxity as an accused committed suicide in custody. State Home Secretary Arun Kumar Sinha told newspersons here today that an accused Rajbir's body was found hanging in the lavatory of Kanth police station in Shahjahanpur district yesterday. Those suspended included the SO, a senior sub-inspector and seven constables. A case had been registered.....

4 lakh devotees take holy dip in Mandakini

Chitrakoot, Sep 22 (UNI) About four lakh devotees took holy dip in Mandakini river heart this ancient religious spot on the occasion of 'Pitra Visarjan Amavasya' today. The devotees -- mainly from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan -- also performed the 'parikrama' of Kadamgiri. Air Deccan signs term sheet to raise $ 100 mln

Bangalore, Sep 22 (UNI) Low cost carrier Air Deccan has signed a term sheet with a consortium of foreign bankers to raise 100 million dollars towards its working capital for the next 22 months. Disclosing this to newspersons here after the Board of Directors meeting, Deccan Aviation Managing Director Capt G R Gopinath said the legal documents were being prepared and four or five banks were involved in the process.
