Court acquits 2 arrested in 2003 for possessing heroin

New Delhi, Sept 22 (UNI) A local court today acquitted two persons arrested from Mongolpuri in 2003 on charges of possessing 1.5 kg of heroin.

Additional Sessions judge N K Sharma acquitted Hukum Chand and Jai Prakash, caught on January 19, 2003 allegedly with 1.5 kg of heroin and a mobile, after examining the witness from both sides.

While the prosecution examined nine witnesses, the defence put forward officials of the mobile service company in its support who told the court that calls from the mobile seized from the accused were made till January 26, while the police had said that they had sent the seized mobile to the 'malkhana' on January 19, the date of their arrest.

In its order, the court, after examining the witnesses, said it seems the two had been falsely implicated by the police.

Two prisoners escape from hospital

Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 22 (UNI) Two prisoners lodged in the subjail escaped from the government hospital here today, giving the slip to five policemen guarding them. According to police, Bhadram and Krishna of Warangal district were arrested for smuggling ganja.
