Coca Cola welcomes order; hopes other states will revoke ban

Kochi, Sep 22 (UNI) Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Ltd today welcomed the Kerala High Court judgement revoking the August 10 order of the state government banning the production and sale of Coca Cola and expressed hope that other state government would follow suit.

In a statement here, the company said it was completely confident about the safety of its drinks in India, which are according produced to European Union (EU) standards with regard to regards the pesticide content.

It hoped other state governments, which had banned or restricted the sale of its soft drinks, would reconsider the orders.

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed the government not to permit any fresh field trials for Genetically Modified (GM) crops till further orders. Kohima, Sep 22: Nagaland has decided to continue to deploy uniformed personnel, including Assam Rifles and CRPF, besides Magistrates as a stepped up security measure following recent bomb blasts in Dimapur. The Dimapur district administration, police and security forces reviewed the security scenario yesterday. Talking to mediapersons later Dimapur Deputy Commissioner K.Nzimongo Ngullie said frisking of vehicles would continue. The meeting was chaired by Nagaland Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary T.N.Mannen and attended.....

Ahmedabad, Sep 22: Introduced in the assembly as an amendment to the anti-conversion law passed three years ago, the present amendment incorporated in the Gujarat Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Bill 2006 states that Jainism and Buddhism shall be construed as denominations of the Hindu religion.Jains constitute about 5.25 lakh or one per cent of the state's population, while there is only a minuscule population of the Buddhists in the state.The common refrain from Jain munis here is.....
