Centre approves 830 crore for flood control in NE

Itanagar, Sept 22 (UNI) The Centre has earmarked Rs 830 crores for flood control and anti-erosion programme in the North Eastern states, including Sikkim besides, North Bengal.

The various projects under 'critical flood control and anti-erosion scheme', has to be implemented within the 11th plan period, Arunachal Pradesh Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Tako Dabi told a press conference here today.

The union water resources ministry had already constituted an empowered committee in this regard, and the Brahmaputra Board was the member secretary of the committee, he informed.

The committee would decided the necessity of schemes in various states keeping in view the urgent requirements.

Under this project, the Centre has sanctioned six schemes for Arunachal Pradesh so far to be executed by the state government and Brahmaputra Board, he added.

The schemes to be executed by the state government include: Tezu-Kholla project in Lohit district with sanctioned amount of Rs 3 crore (Rs 80 lakh already released); Kerang-Bogne project in West Siang with an amount of Rs 4.5 crore (1.20 crore released); Cide project in Upper Siang district with sanctioned amount of Rs. 3 crore (80 lakh already released) and flood protection scheme at Yingkiong township under Upper Siang with an amount of Rs. 3 crore (80 lakh already released) among others.

The other two schemes to be executed by Brahmaputra Board include flood protection and anti-erosion programme at Kut River in Kimin under Lower Subansiri district and flood protection at Seijosa Township under East Kameng district respectively.

The amount sanctioned for both the programme were Rs 2.90 crore and Rs. 4.5 crore respectively, which were already released, he added.

Rs 6.10 per unit with new naphta for Dabhol : Shinde
