Call rates trade high at 6.40-6.60 pc

Mumbai, Sep 22 (UNI) Call rates today traded high between 6.40-6.60 per cent, which was 30 basis points higher than the previous close.

RBI, in the call money market yesterday, transacted Rs 16758.14 crore at the weighted average of 6.49 per cent.

In the first Liquidity adjustment, RBI transacted Rs 5735 crore through five bids at the rate of 6.00 per cent, whereas, in the second liquidy adjustment, RBI transacted Rs 8820 crore through nine bids. RBI did not inject any money through the repo auction.

Gilts traded high and the bond (GS 8.07 per cent 2017) traded at 102.80 and gave a yield of 7.67 per cent.

RBI had fixed the reference rate for the day at Rs 45.94/USD compared to the previous rate of Rs 45.88/USD.

Bharti to finalise retail model by Oct: Mittal

Kolkata, Sept 22: Diversified telecom conglomerate Bharti Enterprises Ltd will finalise the business model for its proposed retail venture by October, its chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said today. "An internal team of the company and consultants are evaluating the business model to be adopted for the venture. We will be ready with the details of the project by October," Mittal, who runs India's top mobile services provider, told reporters. ITC interested on retail ventures in West Bengal

Kolkata, Sept 22: ITC Ltd is interested in cash and carry operations in the horticulture sector in West Bengal, its chairman Y C Deveswar said today. The company is also interested in developing a food park and a logistic hub, Deveswar said in the sidelines of a CII organised interactive session with West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. Premji discusses Wipro's plans with Buddhadeb

Kolkata, Sept 22: Wipro Ltd Chairman Azim Premji and West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today discussed the company's expansion plans in the state during a CII meet here. Mr Premji and Mr Bhattacharjee met in the sidelines of the CII -sponsored interactive session between the Chief Minister and industry captains.
