Bush reiterates US policy of non interference on Kashmir

Washington, Sep 22 (UNI) President George W Bush today publicly restated the United States' policy of non interference on the Kashmir issue, leaving leaders of India and Pakistan free to resolve their 59-year-old problem bilaterally.

"The United States cannot force nations to reach an agreement," Mr Bush said, addressing a joint press conference after his hour-long White House meeting with Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf.

''Kashmir issue will be solved when their leaders decide to solve it. We want to help,'' Mr Bush said in reply to a question by a Pakistani journalist. ''Lasting agreement occurs when leaders of nations say: let's set the past behind; let's move forward.'' TMMK demands apology, volunteers held to prevent picketing

Chennai, Sep 22 (UNI) Volunteers of Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) were arrested when they tried to proceed in a procession to picket AIAMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's residence, in protest against here remarks against a senior IAS Officer Syed Munir Hoda. Five killed in collision

Muzaffarpur, Sep 22 (UNI) Five people were killed and three injured when a truck collided with an auto rickshaw near Kanti thermal power station under Kanti police station area here tonight. According to police, five people died on the spot and the injured have been admitted at Local medical college and hospital. The victims were travelling from Bairiya to Kanti. No Central aid yet for Surat, only crocodile tears: Guj Govt

Ahmedabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Accusing the UPA Government ministers of coming to flood-hit Surat and only ''shedding crocodile tears'', the Gujarat Government today said no Central assistance has yet arrived for the affected people.
