AP CM lays foundation stone for 'Aga Khan Education Academy'

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today laid the foundation stone for setting up 'Aga Khan Educational Academy' on 100 aacres of land, near Ravirala village, in Rangana Reddy district.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Reddy said the state government was committed to help the Aga Khan Foundation for extending its services to the people of the state.

The Educational Academy would provide education to the poor children besides offering teacher training courses to the graduates.

Aga Khan IV, the spiritual leader of Shia Ismaili Muslims, was here on a two-day visit to the state.

Puducherry, Sep 22 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) today urged the Centre to drop the proposed move to grant autonomous status to the Centrally- administered JIPMER hospital here. Govt implementing Jayati Ghosh recommendations: Minister

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy today said the Government was implementing the recommendations of Jayati Ghosh Commission which had studied the circumstances that led to farmers committing suicides in the State. Addressing a review meeting with officials of different departments, he said of the 170 recommendations, 129 were implemented. ULFA attack police party, one killed

Guwahati, Sep 22 (UNI) The ULFA today attacked a police party and killed a havildar virtually drawing the curtain of the month and half-long ceasefire with the security forces. Baramulla, Sep 22 (UNI) Border Security Forces (BSF) troops shot dead a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant during a fierce encounter in apple-town of Sopore this evening.
