11 snake charmers sent to 14-day Judicial Custody

New Delhi, Sep 22 (UNI) Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjiv Jain today sent 11 snake charmers to 14 days judicial custody for possessing animals banned under the Wildlife Act.

The court also ordered that the animals be released in their natural habitat.

The accused were arrested from Mansarovar Park along with 13 cobras and two pythons.

Court rejects Fardeen's plea for immunity

Mumbai, Sept 22 (UNI) A city court today rejected the plea of Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan seeking ''immunity'' from the prosecution in a cocaine seizure case registered against him during May 2001. Khan moved his plea before the special NDPS judge P N Deshmukh and pleaded that cocaine quantity involved only one gram which is small quantity hence pleaded for immunity from the case. Srinagar, Sep 22 (UNI) The authorities have shifted all the 13 accused in the much-publicised sex racket case from the Central Jail here to a prison in Chandigarh for a hearing on their bail pleas by a local court there on September 25.
