Govt restore compassionate appointments to wards of Defence personne

Hyderabad, Sep 21 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government has restored the policy of Compassionate appointment to the dependents of defence personnel killed or disabled in action.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Home Minister K Jana Reddy issued the orders appointing 13 war widows, war disabled and dependent of defence personnel killed or disabled in action in the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Hyderabad and Zill Sainik Welfare offices and other State Government offices .

The State Government during the year 2003 had cancelled the scheme of compassionate appointment to the dependents of defence personnel killed in action.

The Government had restored the scheme following the request made by the Army Authorities to the Chief Minister .

Unclaimed bag creates bomb scare in Surat

Surat, Sep 21 (UNI) An unclaimed bag lying on the roadside has created a bomb scare in the city today. Athwa police station sources said a passer-by noticed a bag on the pavement of Sumul Dairy Road and thought that it contained something explosive. Chennai, Sep 21 (UNI) A Magistrate court today dimissed a petition filed by Nepal Maoist leader Chandraprakash Gajurel, seeking to release him. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ayyasamy dismissed the petition stating that a Habeas Corpus petition, seeking to produce Gajurel before the court and set him at liberty, was pending before Madras High court and the petitioner could seek relief there. Foreign currency racket: Police officer among seven arrested

Sambalpur, Sep 22 (UNI) The Jharsuguda police has arrested seven persons including one reserve Police Sub-Inspector Sachidananda Nayak on charges of possessing one million American dollars. Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Santosh Bala said the Department of Treasuries of US was being informed about these people.
