Kumaraswamy to perform Bhoomi Pooja on Sept 22 for Kalasa-Banduri

Hubli, Sept 20 (UNI) The Karnataka government has decided to go ahead with implementation of Kalasa Banduri drinking water project without waiting for the clearance from the Union Government, Minister for Water Resources K S Eshwarappa said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would perform bhoomi pooja on September 22 at Kanakumbi in Khanapur Taluk of Belgaum District.

He said that the Centre has kept the project in abeyance, though cleared four years back, following objections from Goa Government stating that the project would affect its flora and fauna.

The project was taken up to ensure proper supply of drinking water to the cities and towns in Dharwad and Gadag Districts.
