YSR asks Volkswagen not to shift its car project

Hyderabad, Sep 13 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today appealed to car maker Volkswagen (VW) to reconsider its reported moves to shift its proposed car project to neighbouring Maharashtra.

Speaking to newsmen here, Dr Reddy said the facilites in the State were equal to those in Maharashtra and the government had written to VW on the project.

The project ran into rough weather after its India Representative Helmuth Schuster was sacked for alleged fraud. Subsequently, the company began talks with other states, including Maharashtra, for setting up the plant.
