World space week celebration from Oct 10

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 13 (UNI) The Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) will celebrate ''world space week'' in about 1,000 schools in the state from October four.

The theme for this year would be ''space for saving lives'', a release said here.

According to the release, as part of the celebrations, events like competitions in essay writing, quiz, debate, painting, poster making would also be conducted.

The release added that the schools should register with the VSSC and all the winners would get a certificate.

The VSSC would be organising an all Kerala quiz competition as a part of the celebration. The preliminary and semi-finals would be conducted at Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram on September 30 and the finals at Thiruvananthapuram on October nine.

Students of Class IX to XII can participate in the preliminaries, the release said and added only one team represented by two students would be allowed from each school.

The 'world space week' would be celebrated across the world, from October 4 to 10 every year.
