Widow raped, nose chopped

Katni, MP, Sep 13 (UNI) A widow was raped and her nose and fingers chopped off by her brother-in-law in this district's Jangalpuraini village, police said.

A police complaint was lodged yesterday. The accused and other relatives objected to the victim working as a labourer.

Accused Kripal Singh was arrested. The district administration assured free treatment to the victim and sent her to Jabalpur for plastic surgery. The victim's husband died five years back. She has a five-year-old son. Kripal's house was adjacent to the labourer's house and the crime was committed on September 11.

TADA to decide on Zaveri blast accused tom

Mumbai, Sep 13: TADA court at Mumbai will tomorrow decide the fate of Zaveri Bazaar blast accused Mohamed Shoaib Mohammed Kasam Ghansar, who is listed as accused number nine in the CBI list furnished to the court.The court had yesterday decided the fate of eight serial blasts accused, all members of the Memon family who had masterminded the blasts.Ghansar, who is lodged at Arthur Road Jail, since the day of his arrest in 1993, had planted bombs.....

Tiger reserve status to Satkosia sanctuary in Orissa

Baripada, Sep 13(UNI) The Satkosia Gorge Sanctuary has become the second tiger reserve in Orissa after Simlipal. The Union Ministry of Forests and Environment has accorded the status of a tiger reserve to the Satkosia Gorge Sanctuary. The reserve, according to the 2004 pugmark based census, was home to 18 Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT) and 34 leopards. Orissa had strongly advocated for the state's second tiger reserve at Satkosia before the Steering Committee meeting.....
