Two undertrials killed in police firing, 5 others escape

Rajkot, Sep 13 (UNI) Police today opened fire on fourteen undertrials who were trying to escape from custody while they were being brought back to the jail after a court hearing in Rajula.

While two undertrials were killed and one was injured, another five managed to escape. Six of them were however recaptured, said district superintendent of police R V Jotania over phone.

He said the undertrials were brought back to the Amreli jail after being presented in the Rajula court. They attacked the policemen accompanying them and jumped out of the van near Jabad village. Police had to open 12 rounds of firing in self defence and also to prevent their escape, he said.

The two dead are Vallabh Arjan Solanki, 45, and Pravin Babu, 30. Kishore Vallabh was injured in the firing.

The accused had been facing trial in various cases, mainly on charges of rape, murder and loot. They had been in jail for about four months, police said.

NABARD to allot Rs 427.70 cr to TN under RIDF

Chennai, Sep 13 (UNI) The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will allot Rs 427.70 crore to Tamil Nadu for the current year under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), as against the total allocation of Rs 10,000 crore. Talking to newspersons here today, NABARD's Chief General Manager K V Raghavalu said the bank had already sanctioned Rs 301 crore. Ansal API gets nod for Rs 7,353 cr SEZs at Haryana

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Ansal API today said it has recieved a formal approval by concerned authorities to create new Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Murthal, Haryana and Neemrana, Rajasthan, at a total cost of Rs 7,353 crore. The project at Murthal is an ambitious Rs 800 crore single product engineering-based industry SEZ over an area of 255 acres and is expected to be completed in three years.
