Two arrested with 1,200 kg of poppy husk

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) In yet another major haul of contraband in the capital, police have seized 1,200 kg of poppy husk, worth more than rupees ten million, from G T Karnal Road in North-West Delhi and arrested two people.

The contraband packed in gunny bags was seized from the possession of Mukhtiar Singh and Mukesh yesterday, the police said.

The accused were part of a trafficking racket supplying large quantity of lanced poppy husk from Rajasthan to Haryana, Punjab and other parts of the country.

Hailing from Kaithal in Haryana, the two were arrested following a tip off, by the Narcotics Branch of the Delhi Police.

Further investigations are in progress.

Haryana to construct 64 km long canal in NCR

Chandigarh, Sep 13 (UNI) Haryana Government today decided to construct a 64-km-long canal with initial capacity of 500 cusecs of water at a cost of Rs 213 crore to meet the future requirement of water in the National Capital Region (NCR) falling in the state. A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The canal has been planned in view of the projected requirement.....

Court defers till tomorrow arguments on punishment to convict Memons

Mumbai, Sep 13 (UNI) A TADA court today adjourned till tomorrow hearing of arguments on the quantum of punishment to be given to the four members of Memon family found guilty of involvement in the 1993 serial bomb blasts which had claimed 257 lives.
