Tribal rape accused arrested

Guna, MP, Sep 13 (UNI) A man was today arrested from Maharashtra's Nagpur in connection with the rape of a tribal woman belonging to Bheel community at Konyakala village in this district, police said.

''Balbant Meena alias Ballu was arrested from Nagpur for sexually assaulting the woman. Police were searching another accused, Ramesh Meena,'' Superintendent of Police Awdesh Goswami said.

Earlier, several Bheel tribals had unleashed an attack on Meena community members in the village on September 10 following the rape and murder of the victim's child on August 21.

A police team reached the spot to control the situation but was attacked and Station House Officer Virendra Sapre was killed.

During police firing, villager Nenkaram Bheel was killed.

Two days after the conflict, Bheel tribals, who had climbed Dand hills, started returning after police assured that no innocent person would be disturbed.

Terror threat in Bangalore 'real': DGP

Bangalore, Sep 13 (UNI) Karnataka Director General of Police B S Sail today said that the terrorist threat in Bangalore was 'real' and top companies, mainly those in the Information technology sector, should be more alert than they were. UP govt preparing to hold local body polls

Lucknow, Sep 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government is preparing to hold the crucial local bodies elections in the state before the 2007 assembly polls. Yudhoyono shrugs off Nobel prize speculation

OSLO, Sep 13 (Reuters) Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said today that all sides deserved credit for a peace deal in Indonesia's Aceh province and brushed aside speculation that he might win the Nobel Peace Prize. Yudhoyono reaffirmed his commitment to work to achieve a final peace in the province where a truce between the Indonesian government and the separatist Free Aceh Movement has been in place since August 2005 after nearly three decades.....
