Three persons arrested, Rs 4.39 lakh fake currency seized

Rajkot, Sep 13 (UNI) The city police arrested three persons and seized Rs 4.39 lakh counterfeit notes from their possession.

Acting on a tip off a police team led by Inspector Mahavirsinh Sarvaiya arrested one Bhavesh Patel (25) who was moving in a suspicious manner at Swaminarian Chowk area here last night and seized fake currency of Rs 49,000 (98 notes of Rs 500 denomination) from him.

Mr Sarvaiya told UNI that further interrogation of the accused revealed had received fake currency from one Jaga Bharvad. Later, the team arrested Jaga Bharvad from Thabasana village of the district and recovered fake currency of Rs one lakh of Rs 500 denomination from his possession, he added.

Interrogation of Jaga led to one more arrest from the city. The third accused -- Vallabh Arjan, resident of Kherana village was arrested from his relative's house here. Rs 2,90,000 fake currency of Rs 500 denomination was also recovered from his possession, Mr Sarvaiya said.

Further investigations are on, he added.

Tiger reserve status to Satkosia sanctuary in Orissa

Baripada, Sep 13(UNI) The Satkosia Gorge Sanctuary has become the second tiger reserve in Orissa after Simlipal. The Union Ministry of Forests and Environment has accorded the status of a tiger reserve to the Satkosia Gorge Sanctuary. The reserve, according to the 2004 pugmark based census, was home to 18 Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT) and 34 leopards. Orissa had strongly advocated for the state's second tiger reserve at Satkosia before the Steering Committee meeting.....

VIA launches world's first ero carbon processor for PCs

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Leading chip maker VIA Technologies today unveiled world's first carbon free VIA C7-D processor for the personal computers. ''These days, manufacturing companies are focusing on 'carbon footprint'-- a measure of amount of carbon dioxide. The man-made global warming greenhouse gas are released in atmosphere through everything one does including using computers,'' VIA Technologies Vice President (Marketing) Richard Brown said. Nuclear emergency response framework highly evolved: Kakodkar

Bangalore, Sep 13 (UNI) Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar today hailed the Emergency Response Framework, drafted by the Department of Atomic Energy, to tackle radiation-related mishaps, as a highly evolved one. Inaugurating the Emergency Response Centre (ERC) at the Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research here, he said the centre was meant to extend technical support to the State Government authorities for radiation monitoring and advise on radiation protection in the event.....
