Three-member panel to go into harassment of SC/ST students

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) A three-member committee headed by UGC Chairman Prof Sukhadeo Thorat was constituted today to go into the complaints of alleged harassment of SC/ST students in AIIMS.

Dr K M Shyam Prasad, Vice President, National Board of Exams and Dr R K Srivastava, Director General of Health Services, will be the other members of the committee, an official spokesperson said today.

The panel will go into complaints submitted by MPs, media reports and other representations. It will give its report within one month.

Brasilia, Sept 13: India and Brazil have decided to initiate a strategic dialogue on issues of mutual concern, encompassing energy security and the international security situation, including the menace of terrorism, while announcing a series of steps aimed at upgrading their political and economic ties to the level of a ''strategic partnership''.This strategic dialogue will be conducted by National Security Adviser M K Narayanan on the Indian side and his Brazilian counterpart.According to a joint communique issued.....

Debt-stricken farmer commits suicide in Idukki

Idukki, Sep 13 (UNI) A debt-stricken farmer Maprathekken Kanjikuzhi, 62, allegedly committed suicide in the Kanjikuzhi police station limits of this district this morning. Police said Kanjikuzhi poured kerosene on his body and immolated himself. He is survived by his wife Devaki and four children. Four years ago, he had reportedly taken a loan of Rs 30,000 from the Thodupuzha Kaarshika Bhoovikasana Bank, which had now swollen up to Rs 75,000, police.....
