Tech Tour to enhance European investments

New Delhi, Sept 13: In order to facilitate business opportunities with the European investors and technology partners, a three-day technology fest, Tech Tour 2006, will be organised by the European Tech Tour (ETT) Association from October 11.

International delegates coming to India for the Tech Tour'06 will be given extensive coaching on business practices here and will meet more than 20 rising star technology companies.

''This Tour will bring together the technology leadership of Indian and European countries by creating a strong network of global investors and strategic corporate partners,'' ETT Association President and General Partner with Vision Capital Sven Lingjaerde said.

Companies from various technology sectors, including new Materials and Processes, Electronic and Optical Components and Systems, Communication and Networking, Mobility, Software Applications and BPO/KPO, will participate in the event.

It will host more than 50 selected delegates from Europe representing various industry sectors including Advent Venture Partners, Doughty Hanson, Nokia Ventures, SAP Ventures and Siemens Venture Capital.

Delegates will be exposed to leading-edge Indian high tech companies, including Gempact, Infosys, and Mind Tree.

''Traditionally, Indian companies have been more US-focused, especially for outsourcing work. There is a huge untapped market in Europe that is waiting to be explored. We feel that the Indian Tech Tour will help explore areas of mutual cooperation,'' ETT Association President said.

ETT Association, Switzerland-based non-profit organisation, aims to identify and promote emerging technology companies in targeted regions by facilitating interaction with senior executives from the international investment and corporate communities.

The Tech Tour that will visit Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai is being supported by a global non profit organisation, The Indus Enterpreneurs (TiE), focused on promoting entrepreneurship.

TiE Asia Director Prajakt Raut said, ''For visiting business leaders and investors, TiE network and resources will provide a comprehensive understanding of the aspects they need to consider for doing business in and with India.'' The European Tech Tour has successfully hosted 22 tours to date.

These tours have, together, welcomed over 130 emerging start-ups that have presented to investors, each time with over Euro 10 billion worth of capital to invest.
