Swiss approve deployment of 15,000 troops for Euro 2008

ZURICH, Sept 13 (Reuters) Switzerland's federal government today approved the deployment of up to 15,000 troops to help civilian authorities when the country co-hosts the 2008 European soccer championship.

The soldiers would be deployed from June 2-18 in Switzerland's four host cities, Basel, Bern, Geneva and Zurich, the Federal Council said in a statement.

Further details would be arranged after the Dec. 1, 2007 draw for the tournament, which Switzerland is co-hosting with neighbouring Austria.

CAPCO demands total ban on colas

Tirupati, Sep 13 (UNI) The Confederation of Andhra Pradesh Consumers Organisations (CAPCO) has demanded a total ban on sale of cola drinks in the state on the lines of the ban imposed by the Kerala and Karnataka governments recently. Three-member panel to go into harassment of SC/ST students

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) A three-member committee headed by UGC Chairman Prof Sukhadeo Thorat was constituted today to go into the complaints of alleged harassment of SC/ST students in AIIMS. Dr K M Shyam Prasad, Vice President, National Board of Exams and Dr R K Srivastava, Director General of Health Services, will be the other members of the committee, an official spokesperson said today.
