Struggling model arrested in murder case

Mumbai, Sep 13 (UNI) A model was arrested today by the Varsova police on charges of murder of his flatmate and aspiring model on September 9 at their MHADA (Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority) colony in the western suburbs of Andheri.

Varsova police said here today that accused Kunwarsingh Jotsingh alias Deepak Rawat (26), hailed from Uttaranchal while victim Trupti alias Shilpa Mandal (22) was from Kolkata. The duo were staying in flat in MHADA colony.

On September 8, Rawat was away from home the whole night. When he returned next morning, Mandal had asked about his whereabouts, following which both had a quarrel. Rawat got angry and strangulated her. He later hanged her on the ceiling fan and then went to police station where he reported that his ''wife'' had committed suicide by hanging. Initially the police registered case of 'Suicide.' The post-mortem report received yesterday indicated that Trupti did not commit suicide but she was strangulated. On the basis of post-mortem reports, the investigating agency arrested Rawat this morning.

Police registered a case of murder and futher investigations are in progress, the police added.

HC asks state govt to file counter affidavit

Allahabad, Sep 13 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court asked the state authorities to file counter affidavit within four weeks on a PIL seeking directions to the State government to constitute Nyay Panchayat. The bench comprising Chief Justice A N Ray and Justice Ashok Bhushan passed the order on a writ petition filed by Ramesh Chandra Patel of Chitrakoot. Tribal rape accused arrested

Guna, MP, Sep 13 (UNI) A man was today arrested from Maharashtra's Nagpur in connection with the rape of a tribal woman belonging to Bheel community at Konyakala village in this district, police said. ''Balbant Meena alias Ballu was arrested from Nagpur for sexually assaulting the woman. Police were searching another accused, Ramesh Meena,'' Superintendent of Police Awdesh Goswami said. Earlier, several Bheel tribals had unleashed an attack on Meena community.....
