Sensex up 63 pts in the opening move

Mumbai, Sept 13: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex) today jumped 63 points in the opening move, as the crude oil price dipped to a six-month low of US Dollar 63.60 per barrel mark and is currently trading at 11,840.87 points compared to the previous close of 11,660.79.

US crude hit a low of US Dollar 63.60 per barrel, its lowest since March 27 after Iran agreed to cap its nuclear programme for two months, and the OPEC countries said they will not reduce their oil production, which would help in checking the price rise.

Amongst the sectoral indices on the BSE, all sectors were trading in the green. Consumer Durables was up by 2.15 per cent, PSU sector was up by 1.96 per cent, Auto by 1.98 per cent, Capital Goods by 1.73 per cent and the FMCG by 1.88 per cent.

Major gainers on the BSE-30 Sensex are Maruti Udyog, L&T, Satyam Computers, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, HLL, Reliance Energy, Dr Reddy's Lab, Infosys and BHEL all up between 1.94 to 3.57 per cent.

Besides the overall losers on the BSE are IndiaBulls, EIH Ltd, GlaxoSmithklime, Jubilant Organisation, Wyeth Ltd, Cadila Helathcare, Biocon Ltd and Proctor&Gamble all down between 0.08 to 6.74 per cent.

Key benchmark indices in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore were up between 0.3 - 0.8 per cent.

NE grabs Rs 171.16 crore under NREGA

Aizawl, Sep 13: The Ministry of Rural Development, has already released Rs 171.16 crore to North Eastern states, including Sikkim, for implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) during 2006-07. According to the latest record, Asom received the highest fund of Rs 13970.84 lakh followed by Tripura Rs 1456.66 lakh, Mizoram Rs 298.90 lakh, Arunachal Pradesh Rs 272.85 lakh, Manipur Rs 570.89 lakh, Meghalaya Rs 64.68 lakh, Nagaland Rs 430.11 lakh and Sikkim Rs 451.50 lakh under.....

Steps will be taken for final award of Cauvery tribunal: MK

Tiruvarur, Sep 13: The Tamil Nadu Government will take expeditious steps to get the final award of the Cauvery River Water Disputes Tribunal with the cooperation of alliance partners and the people of the state.
