Rs 102 crore 'Adhaar' IT project to be launched in Haryana

Chandigarh, Sep 13 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to launch a Rs 102 crore project called 'State Wide Area Network (Adhaar)' with the assistance of Central Government to bring about complete transparency and efficiency in the administration and improve the level of performance in the government offices.

Under this project, all the offices from the state headquarters to the block level would be connected through voice, data and video. This would help the government in closely monitoring the functioning of government offices at various levels.

The project would be completed within a period of five years.

This was revealed in the review meeting of the Department of Information and Technology which was presided over by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda yesterday.

Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Information Technology, Mr P K Chaudhery disclosed in the meeting that 1127 Cyber Space Centres (CSCs) in rural areas and 100 CSCs in urban areas with public-private partnership would be set up. These would be made operational by the end of next calendar year.

These centres would facilitate the general public in the services, involving collection of electricity, water and telephone bills, results and provisional certificates, forms and procedures, acceptance of applications for all transactional services. The services would also include making avaliable revenue records, e-mail communication and internet surfing, prices of agricultural and essential commodities, information on government jobs, tenders, government instructions, panchayats development works, release of funds, agriculture inputs availability, ration cards and PDS information, public grievances and blood bank information.

Maoists protest arms import, call for strike

ASI restores 9 Gurjara-Pratihara shrines in MP

Bhopal, Sep 13 (UNI) Nine Gurjara-Pratihara temples, devastated by an earthquake centuries ago, have been restored to their former grandeur and another 40 structures are under renovation at Bateshwar hilly area in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district. The cost for renovating the roughly 14-centuries-old shrines and other structures, belonging to Gurjara-Pratihara period, is estimated to be Rs 50 lakh. Sical Logistics Ltd creates record in loading iron ore
