PIL dismissed by HC

Allahabad, Sep 13 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court today dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction to the state government not to finalise the selection of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in favour of Reliance group in Noida.

A bench comprising Chief Justice A N Ray and Justice Ashok Bhushan dismissed the writ petition for non-joinder of necessary party that is, Union government.

The petition filed by Raj Kumar Singh Chauhan, an advocate of the court alleged that for setting up SEZ, the land is being acquired from poor farmers at a pittance.

The PIL contended that the state government be restrained from finalising the selection of multi product SEZ on the basis of 137th board meeting of Noida held on September 1 last in favour of the Reliance under UP SEZ policy 2006 in pursuance of Special Economic Zone Act 2005.

The petition further alleged that it was in violation of article 14 and 300 (a) of the constitution.

Two revenue officials arrested in bribery case

Hyderabad, Sep 13 (UNI) The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths today arrested two Mandal Surveyors on the charges of accepting bribe. An ACB release said, P Bhaskar, Mandal Revenue Office, Valluru, Kadapa district was trapped while accepting a bribe of Rs 900 from the complainant at the office. In an another trap, C Yellaiah, Mandal Surveyor of Ibrahimpatnam in Rangan Reddy district was arrested for accepting Rs 4,000 as bribe, the release added. UNI.....

hawkers agitation disrupt train services

Kolkata, Sep 13 (UNI) Train services on Bandel-Katwa section of Eastern Railway's Howrah division were disrupted from 12.48 hours due to a blockade by hawkers at Tribeni and Khamargachhi stations today. The hawkers called the blockade as two hawkers were apprehended by the RPF during a special drive against unauthorised hawkers on September 12. Normal train services resumed at 13.40 hours. As a result, three trains were detained for about one hour twenty minutes each.....

Terror threat in Bangalore 'real': DGP

Bangalore, Sep 13 (UNI) Karnataka Director General of Police B S Sail today said that the terrorist threat in Bangalore was 'real' and top companies, mainly those in the Information technology sector, should be more alert than they were. Speaking at the inauguration of Emergency Response Centre at Auomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research here, he said, ''The threat is real. But there is no cause for panic. You are in safe hands.''.....
