One student killed, six injured in accident

Fatehabad, Sep 13 (UNI) A student was killed and six others injured when their school bus collided with the vehicle at Ratia town in the district this afternoon.

The victim has been identified as 12-year-old Paras Jain of Guru Nanak Academy, Ratia.

According to reports, a jeep modified to create more seats, was taking the schoolchildren to their homes when the vehicle collided with a canter belonging to a cold drink company.

A projected angle iron protruding from the canter pierced through the cover cloth of the jeep and seriously injured the children sitting on that direction.

Paras, a class six student of the school died on the spot. Six others were seriously injured. Two of them, Hardeep and Kawaljit were admitted to the local general hospital, while Ramandeep was admitted to local Abrol Hospital. Three other children are getting treatment at Ratia.

Security failure led to blasts: Basu

Kolkata, Sep 13 (UNI) Veteran CPI (M) leader Jyoti Basu today blamed intelligence failure for the Malegaon blasts, warning that similar incidents could happen in West Bengal too. ''There was failure of the intelligence, '' he told reporters reacting to the Malegaon blasts, in which 37 people were Rilled.
