Nasscom meet on e-commerce on Sep 15

Bangalore, Sep 13: The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) is holding a meet on e-Commerce, witnessing resurgence across the globe, here on September 15.

Falling prices of hardware and mobile phones, and growing penetration of internet and bandwidth availability have created in India promising opportunities for e-Commerce business models.

However, the challenge facing the country was to create a comfort level for users, given that there was a traditional preference for media like TV, radio and mobile appliances, based on familiarity.

While Rs 570 crore worth of commerce was conducted online in India during 2004-05, the number was projected to jump to Rs 2,300 crore by 2006-07, an estimated increase of 300 per cent.

Recognising this trend, NASSCOM had invited leaders of major players in e-Commerce to share their insights on the need for companies to build an e-Commerce presence, strategies behind e-Commerce success stories, mobile revolution as a catalyst for e-Commerce and the role of internet advertising in creating successful e-Commerce business models.

The event would feature an interactive session with leading e-Commerce exponents.
