Nargund receives 15 cm rain

Bangalore, Sep 13 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded here at 0830 hours today.

The heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places over the State during next 48 hours.

The monsoon was vigorous over Coastal Karnataka and active over North Interior Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at a few places over South Interior Karnataka.

Nargund recorded very heavy rainfall of 15 cms.

Other heavy rainfall amounts (cm) : Mudibidre 10; Karkala, B.Bagewadi 9 each; Sulya, Lokapur 7 each.

Other chief amounts of rainfall (cm) : Mangalore AP, Mani, Belthangadi, Kota, Yeragatti 6 each; Panambur, Dharmasthala, Puttur, Shirali, Honavar, Jamakhandi, Shikaripur, Sandur, Jagalur 5 each.

Bantwal, Udupi, Bhatkal, Kumta, Karwar, Bijapur, Virajpet, Arkalgud, Chitradurga 4 each.

Forecast valid until the Friday morning : Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at many place over Interior Karnataka.

Farmers forecast : Moderate to heavy rain may occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Belgaum, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Bijapur, Bagalkote, Koppal districts. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at many places over Kodagu, Shimoga, Chikmagalur districts and at a few places over remaining districts of the State.

Outlook for subsequent two days: Increase in rainfall is expected over the State.

Local forecast until Friday morning : Generally cloudy.

Army to take up developmental projects in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 13 (UNI) The army will initiate various developmental projects in the insurgency affected states like Manipur under 'Operation Sadbhavana'. Governor concerned over price rise

Shillong, Sep 13 (UNI) Meghalaya Governor M M Jacob today instructed Chief Minister J.D.Rymbai to look into the exorbitant rise in prices of commodities in the state.
