Medimix owner Cholayil to set up units in Hardwar, Uttaranchal

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Cholayil Private Ltd, owner of popular herbal soap Medimix, today announced it begin the costruction of a soap manufacturing facility at Hardwar, as well as a talcum powder unit in Uttaranchal by November this year.

The Chennai-based company will spend Rs 10 crore for setting up of the soap plant.

As part of its plans to enhance its footprint in the northern region, the company seeks to promote its 'Cuticura' talcum powder, which has done well in the South, across India by mid-next year.

''We want to make our products national and by the summer of 2007, our Cuticura talcum powder will make its foray all over India,'' said Mr M C Anand Kumar Senior VP (Sales and Marketing) of Dorcas Market Makers Ltd, the marketing arm of Cholayil.

The company expects a turnover of Rs 500 crore by 2010, from the present Rs 160 crore. Its Medimex brand, which contributes Rs 140 crore and enjoys a market share of 27 per cent in the herbal soaps space, is expected to earn Rs 235 crore of revenues by 2010.

Targeted at young woman aged between 15-25 years, the company also forayed in the deodorant segment with its new 'Cuticura Deo2'.

Besides, it plans to launch more Cuticura products by the next financial year.

The new deodorant is available in three fragrances -- Original, Lavender and Pink Passion, and is priced at Rs 65 for 75ml and Rs 100 for 150 ml.

The company has business interset in toiletries, personal care and health care. It has six manufacturing facilities at Madhavaram, Thiruzhisai, Pondicherry, Bangalore Vilupuiram and Thandalachery.

Aged man murdered by 4-member gang

Mysore, Sep 13 (UNI) An elderly man was brutally murdered by a four-member gang at Mudegowadanahalli village in Mysore Taluk today. Police said Kambegowda (60), a landlord and money lender, was waiting for a bus on the outskirts of the village when the four people, who came in two bicycles, attacked him with deadly weapons, killing him on the spot. Ten CCTVs to be installed at Mysore palace

Mysore, Sep 13 (UNI) With a view to step up security measures inside the magnificent Mysore Palace, the Palace Board has decided to install ten closed circuit televisions (CCTVs) soon. Palace Board Deputy Director P V Avaradi said today that cameras would be installed in ten vantage points to monitor movement of visitors from the office of the Palace Board. HC adjourns Jaya's petitions to Oct 10

Chennai, Sep 13 (UNI) Madras High Court today adjourned to October 10 hearing on two petitions filed by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in connection with income tax cases. Ms Jayalalithaa filed two petitions, one challenging an order of the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (Economic Offences-II), dismissing her petitions, seeking to discharge her from the three income tax cases, and the other challenging the constitutional validity of Section 278-E of the Income.....
