Mahila Cong leader moves Kerala HC for prosecuting P J Joseph

Kochi, Sep 13 (UNI) A writ petition was filed before the Kerala High Court today seeking a direction to the government and police to register a criminal case against former Minister P J Joseph for allegedly outraging the modesty of a co-passenger aboard a flight.

In her writ petition, Mahila Congress All India General Secretary Simi Rosabel John also sought a direction to forebear the respondents from taking any steps to conduct a judicial enquiry instead of a police investigation into the alleged crime.

The petition relates to an alleged incident aboard a Chennai-Kochi Kingfisher flight on August 03, when Mr Joseph, then the State Public Works Minister, reportedly misbehaved with a woman passenger sitting in front of him.

Mr Joseph resigned from the Cabinet after a preliminary enquiry by a senior police officer found some substance in the complaint and recommended a detailed investigation.

Acording to the petitioner, Mr Joseph should be prosecuted for outraging the modesty of the co-passenger.
