Lalu owns nearly Rs 15 lakh, claims his counsel

Patna, Sep 13 (UNI) The Counsel of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi today said the total wealth of Mr Prasad during the period of disproportionate asset case was to the tune of Rs 14,85,108 and not Rs 22,67,464 as claimed by the CBI.

Arguing before special CBI judge Munilal Paswan, Mr Prasad's counsel challenged the figure shown by CBI and contended that inflated amount was calculated against payment for procuring a car and a firearm.

The counsel informed the court that not a single paisa was invested by Mr Prasad against maintenance of ancestral house at Phulwaria.

In the purchase of a car, only Rs 18,461 was spent by Mr Prasad and the balance was paid by the bank as loan, the counsel said adding his client had purchased a pistol for Rs 1500 only in an auction.

The ongoing final argument in disproportionate asset case involving Mr Prasad and his wife would continue tomorrow.
