H C to continue hearing on Meerut fire tragedy

Allahabad, Sep 13 (UNI) Hearing on the bail application filed by the organisers of the Meerut fire tragedy would continue tomorrow before the Allahabad High Court.

The matter is being heard before Justice Ravindra Singh. The defence counsel has pleaded that it is not a case of culpable homicide, not amounting to murder but a simple case of negligence under section 304 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A major fire had swept the exhibition at Victoria Park in Meerut on April 10, killing several persons.

Hyderabad, Sep 13 (UNI) A twenty-day-old girl child was reported missing from the Government Niloufer Hospital here today. Chennai, Sep 13 (UNI) The city police today arrested a Tamil film actor for allegedly threatening a woman film producer on charges of usury. Police here said the woman producer obtained a loan of Rs ten lakh from Suresh who also used to lend money to film producers. Though she claimed to have repaid Rs 13 lakh so far, the actor reportedly asked her to pay another Rs 20 lakh to settle the account following.....

Software co owner held for cheating

Chennai, Sep 13 (UNI) Police today arrested a software company proprietor for allegedly cheating a travel agency owner of Rs 60 lakh. Police said Anand Kumar, running a travel agency, gave a loan of Rs 60 lakh to Ram for improving his software firm. However, Ram escaped after locking his establishment without repaying Kumar.
