Governor seeks "inputs" of foreigner assault case

Kolkata, Sept 13 (UNI) Concerned over reports that a German woman tourist was allegedly slapped by a securityman here, West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi today sought inputs from the state government and the BSF authorities about the incident.

''Governor's secretary had conveyed the feelings to both state government and the BSF authorities, '' Raj Bhavan sources said.

The Governor's secretary had also asked for ''inputs'' about the alleged assault on the foreigner at the Sealdah railway station last night as reported in the media today.

Last night, 23-year-old Karin was allegedly slapped by a BSF jawan in an inebriated state when she was waiting for the Darjeeling Mail at the station.

The jawan accosted her and demanded her passport which was with her boyfriend at that time, police said.

Railway police, with whom the foreigner lodged a complaint, said the BSF personnel reportedly slapped her on the face while his boyfriend was away from the spot.

As other passengers gathered at the spot, the man fled the scene.

The two foreigners later left for their destination. The GRP had initiated a case in connection with the complaint.
