Gorkha Rifles inducts 218 new recruits

Shillong, Sep 13: Altogether 218 recruits belonging to Assam Rifles and 34 to Gorkha Rifles were inducted as soldiers of the respective forces at an attestation parade held at the 58 Gorkha Training Centre' parade ground here today.

Col R S Rana, Commandant 58 GTC, took the salute and reviewed the parade. He gave away the best recruit trophy of 5 GR (FF) and 8 GR to Rect Shankar Gurung and Bikash Jang Khadka respectively and the Best Recruits of Assam Rifles were presented to Rect Tahir Khan and Rect Ravinder Singh respectively.

Other awards presented on the occasion were the best recruit in drill, physical fitness sports firing and education.

Later, addressing the newly attested soldiers, Col Rana lauded the standard of drill and turnout as displayed on the occasion and felicitated them for having successfully completed their gruelling training of 45 weeks and 42 week respectively.

MacGill fears knee injurns will affect Ashes preparations
