Srinagar, 13: More than 160 power sub station were affected due to recent flood in south Kashmir where about 1.85 lakh illegal connections have been regularised and Rs 4 crores realized from the security forces and Rs 6 crores from other consumers.

This information was given to Power Minister Rigzin Jora at a high level meeting at Anantnag, an official spokesman said.

He said the Minister was informed that 96 per cent distribution lines which were affected due to flash floods have been restored within a record period of time.

Mr Jora was also informed that the department has collected revenue worth Rs 10 crore from the consumers during last three years in Pulwama and Anantnag districts, out of which Rs 4.08 crores have been realized from the security forces including Army, BSF and CRPF.

He was also apprised that at present 22 receiving stations and 3800 distribution sub stations are under construction in the two districts.

An amount of Rs 217 crore are being spent for upgradation of power supply system in these twin districts.

The Minister was also told that the installation of metering system in Anantnag-Pulwama districts is in full swing.

In the meeting the Minister also reviewed the pace of progress of Mattan and Kulgam grid station which are being constructed at a total cost of Rs 24.75 crore and out of which so far Rs 18 crore have been utilized on the execution of these projects.

The grid station would provide uninterrupted power supply to about 25000 souls of 100 villages.
